LGBTQ Politics
The LGBTQ Politics series will address the current state of LGBTQ+ movements at the grassroots level, and in political and policy spheres. Books in the series will address LGBTQ politics in the context of a variety of issues such as activism, citizenship, coalition-building, community, democracy, elections, globalism, intersections with other progressive movements, public opinion, organizational and policy strategies; right wing resistance, and visions for the future.
These books will include scholars who approach these questions from a variety of subfields in political science, including comparative politics, political theory, American politics, public law, and international relations, with intersectional approaches to the study of politics based in critical race theory, post-colonial studies, feminist theory, trans studies, and queer theory. Since social science employs a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods, the books are likely to reflect this diversity of methodological approaches across each of these major subfields. Books will cover a range of current topics, such as: same-sex marriage; trans inclusion in the military; LGBT politicians; shifting public opinion over lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans rights; and the enumeration of additional and intersecting identities such as intersex and asexual under the LGBTQ+ umbrella.
