For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me...Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you?’...And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25: 35-40
“An Evening with Jesus” is a momentous community affair. Jesus tells us in the Gospel of Matthew that we are all called upon to give food to the hungry, drink to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, and shelter to the homeless. He tells us that if we do, it will be exactly the same as doing it for him. It feels sometimes that we have ignored this teaching of our Savior. At “More than Meets the Eye,” we are certain that we have all been called to go beyond just believing the right thing and that we are being called to act.
Join with us soon to host a refugee family or individual in your home for a home cooked meal and an evening of demonstrated love and kindness. It will do two things for you: it will help you overcome any fears that you may have about these unknown people coming into our country, and it will afford you the opportunity to have dinner with Jesus.
More information will be made available soon.
